Baba G’s Bhangra Burger Opens in a Shipping Container
An established street food trader that’s been successfully doing the festival circuits and markets, opened its second pop-up in a shipping container this week.
For the next 14 months, Baba G’s Bhangra Burger will be a permanent part of the Broadgate Estate in Finsbury Avenue Square, and offering inside and outside seating on the square of 12 tables and 24 chairs.
Having first started as Bhangra Burger, Baba G’s has acquired a reputation for its bold, punchy Indian-British fusion of spice, colour and aroma, with its Lamb Jalfezi burger being listed as one of Timeout’s top 100 London dishes since 2012.
Its menu includes the popular Baba G’s Bhangra burgers, Naanwiches, the Pachos (poppadum nachos), and “for the die hard spice fans” – the Naga Delhi Chilli Burger, which can be doubled-up for double the spice.
Since serving its first burger eight years ago on the corner by the KFC, the brains behind Baba G’s, Alec Owen, has seen his brand come a long way.
Not only has Baba G’s been present at Kerb markets and Streetfeast’s Dinerama, but it’s been busily serving customers on Brixton Station Road after being invited in 2015 to set up its first permanent outlet as part of Pop Brixton.
Its new site, however, does have a lean to bar, and will, therefore, be serving alcohol from 19th June onwards.
In addition, Baba G’s has said it will be expanding its menu by launching a new range of bowls for both vegetarians and vegans comprising a variation of healthy currys and spicy sides.
