Back by popular demand and now in its fourth year, Inspire FM together with Luton Council and Bedfordshire Police present Luton’s Big Iftar.

With the whole community invited to a free family event to mark the breaking of the daily fast of Ramadan, this event will take place in Popes Meadow, Old Bedford Road on Friday 1 June from 7pm.

There will be free activities that include face painting, mehndi/henna, bouncy castles, and other family entertainment.

The event is being funded by London Luton Airport’s Beds and Luton Community Foundation and will provide an opportunity to learn more about Islam and Ramadan while breaking the fast (Iftar) with a shared meal.

This unique event aims to bring people from different backgrounds and cultures together to share good food and learn from each other – Councillor Aslam Khan

Councillor Aslam Khan said: “This unique event aims to bring people from different backgrounds and cultures together to share good food and learn from each other.

“Ramadan is a month of sharing, hospitality, charity giving and creating new friendships; and the Big Iftar is a great way of achieving these goals while breaking down barriers that may exist within our communities.

“Events such as this are a great opportunity for us all to pledge our support to respect each other’s differences and continue to ensure that Luton is a place where we can live and work in harmony.”

Due to the large number of people who attended last year, attendees are being asked to register this year to ensure sufficient availability of food.

Tickets will be issued when registered (visit here to register) and will need to be produced when the food is being served.
