It’s here that you’ll find the Steak Bus, a red double-decker that was transformed into a stationary restaurant before opening its doors in September last year.

With the kitchen taking up most of the lower deck, seating is mostly limited to the top deck with a capacity of 36.

Imad Wasim, a Brummie food reviewer who runs the popular Facebook page Halal Gastronomy in Birmingham, described the bus’ interior as “very spacious” with “a few benches outside for those of us who want to eat with a breeze”.

Having ordered a mixed steak of chicken and beef grilled with mix peppers and onions, along with “a generous portion of fries and salad” and a drink for £8, Wasim concluded: “The food was amazing.”

He added: “The steaks were cut up, juicy and succulent. They tasted exceptionally well, full of flavour and juices. The fries were perfectly cooked, no small bits. … It took them about 10 minutes to make which I thought was brilliant for the quality of steak they produced. The portion was very generous and excellent value for money.”

HMC certified, the Steak Bus has a fairly extensive menu too which includes three types of steaks: beef, chicken and mixed, six burgers including The Double Decker, wraps, paninis, sandwiches, desserts and milkshakes.

But this isn’t the first time that a bus of this kind has been utilised in such a unique way.

Bolton has been successfully running its own double-decker restaurant – called The Steak Out – for a number of years now.

In fact, its been so successful that back in 2015 its owners decided to literally roll in a Boeing 737 fuselage aircraft and convert it into a restaurant for their next business venture.

Appropriately called Steaks on a Place – a playful twist on Samuel L. Jackson’s popcorn flick Snakes on a Plane – this is still set for launch some time very soon.

Only in Bolton… and now Birmingham!
