Comptoir Libanais debuts in Birmingham on Monday

HALAL STATUS Fully Halal food menu • Alcohol served

Comptoir Libanais will be holding the grand opening to their very first Birmingham 100-cover restaurant this Monday 26 March at 11am.

The Lebanese Canteen’s 22nd branch will include a mini-market for customers to purchase hard-to-source “authentic ingredients, goodies and homeware” along with branded cookbooks that will no doubt include founder Tony Kitous’s very own.

Comptoir Libanais has chosen a prime location too for its West Midlands debut by launching in Grand Central above the busy New Street Station and opposite the Bullring.

The menu offers classic dishes from the region such as mezzes, wraps, grills, tagines, and Lebanese style pizza called Mana’esh, all served in a relaxed environment.

In the morning, enjoy the popular classic dish Shakshuka that’s made of slow cooked tomatoes, red onions and peppers, topped with a fried egg and crumbled feta and served with pita.

A simpler alternative might be Granola and yogurt with Middle-Eastern toppings such as Date Syrup and Roasted Mixed nuts.

On the sweet side there’s a selection of Baklawa and Lebanese desserts, which are delicate, fragrant and delicious, such as Dark Chocolate Orange and Cardamon Tart.

These can be had alongside freshly made coffee or Lebanese Spiced Hot Chocolate – steamed hot chocolate infused with cinnamon and tahini sprinkled with halva; or even homemade lemonades such as Romana – orange blossom water and pomegranate lemonade.

With a kid’s menu of wraps that include chicken wings or grilled lamb kofta, served with Lebanese fries or rice and hummus.

With takeaway food also available, Comptoir Libanais will soon be launching an exclusive delivery service with Deliveroo.

This branch will actually be located next to another Halal-friendly restaurant, Indian street food specialists Mowgli, who serve Halal meat, with no pork on the menu, although FtL has been informed of two dishes that contain alcohol.

What’s more, Comptoir Libanais will also be running a kids colouring competition over the Easter holiday with the winner receiving a free family meal voucher for two adults and two children.
