Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK)
Here is our latest review of GBK:

This popular franchise is understandably reluctant in advertising their chicken burgers as being halal.
Can’t blame them really in today’s sorry state of affairs. But, the burgers are definitely worth reviewing given their seeming popularity with us Muslims.
Although the ‘classic’ chicken burger is plain to say the least, the bread crumb exterior is fairly tasty and crumbly.
What’s disappointing is that it needs some sauce to bring the entire thing to life.
It’s definitely superior to the chicken burgers you’d find at your local’s; but, it isn’t quite there.
This, for us, though was the thing to get – Cranberry. With a thick chunk of tasty, creamy cheese, this unusually flavoured burger is highly recommend.
And, TBH, this is what one wants in a burger – adventurous and bold flavours that work! Can’t go wrong with this beauty.
And the last of the adventurous flavours is this Satay chicken burger.
This has unlike the sweet tasting Cranberry in that it tasted more like… chickpeas and nutty sauce.
Extremely skinny fries – anorexic actually!
Tasty though and certainly not like the McCain home fries shamelessly served up at Big Moe’s, for example!
Powerful and pungent, but very very tasty fresh homemade lemonade it has to be said.
- YES/ YES
- CHILD SEATING
Overall then, although GBK is relatively over-priced, kudos for at least attempting to cater for the halal diners out there. We just want more!

Unfortunately GBK has not moved with the times. Back in the day it was special. Now every Tom, Dick & Mohammad can do this but better. It’s also heavily over priced for what it is.

I didn’t know the chicken was halal – why don’t they inform their customers? I would choose not to consume such meat given the choice as I’m not a mumbo jumbo follower.
