Lahori Masala (Pakistani) – Wembley
We decided to visit Lahori Masala during Ramadan for suhoor/ sahari (breakfast) after claims that it delivered the authentic flavours of Pakistan, specifically of course Lahore, and were pleasantly surprised.
As you can imagine, they have a huge and varied menu. So you have your veg- and non-veg starters; veg, chicken, and meat karahis; rice dishes; and classic Pakistani desserts (kheer, kulfi, jalebi, etc). We were there, however, for one thing and one thing only – Lahori Masala’s coveted breakfast, which is usually served on Friday and during the weekends from 7am to 11am (Ramadan excluded). On offer:
- Halwa
- Puri (2 pcs)
- Chicker Choley
- Paya Curry
- Kulcha Naan
- Nihari
- Alu Puri (Special Alu Curry with 2 Puris)
- Choley Batura
- Dasi Omelette
- Aloo Paratha
- Lacha Paratha
- Doodh Patti
Not bad; though not the best either.
It was fairly flavoursome and came with a small bowl of mango chatni (pickle), but wasn’t very crispy (not entirely round for that matter), which was a pity.
Now these puris were something! Unlike many, which are disappointingly heavy and oily, these were delicately light and fluffy, and went perfectly with the halwa. Highly recommended!
As for the channa (chick peas), then these were mediocre; the chef had, sadly, been heavy handed with the garam masala.
Of course, no Pakistani breakfast can be said to be complete without the old doodh patti (brewed Pakistani tea), and this was right on the money!
Also sampled was the nihari (unfortunately, no pic was taken), which was surprisingly pretty darn good with generous portions of meat.
- NO/ NO
- CHILD SEATING
We only went for the breakfast, but we wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the menu was equally as good.
