Shake Shack Introduces New Halal Chick’n Burger

Why did the Chick’n Shack cross the pond? To land at our UK Shacks in Victoria Nova, Leicester Square, Canary Wharf, Tottenham Court Road and Stratford!

That’s right, not only did global franchise Shake Shack launch their first chicken burger yesterday, but, more importantly, this new Chick’n Shack (£6.25) is also Halal, and available at all UK branches.

The Chick’n Shack, we are told, is “a crispy 100% British chicken breast, slow-cooked in a creamy buttermilk marinade, hand-dipped into Shack-made batter, coated with seasoned flour and crisp-fried. The chicken is then topped with shredded lettuce, pickles and a tangy buttermilk herb mayo, and served on a pillowy potato roll – the same bun that has cradled the classic ShackBurger since Shake Shack’s inception in 2004″.

The inspiration behind the Chick’n Shack lies in Shake Shack’s heritage as a modern “roadside” burger stand.

“The introduction of chicken marks a new era for Shake Shack, staying true to our core menu while continuing to innovate new items our guests have asked for” said Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti. “The Chick’n Shack also furthers Shake Shack’s commitment to serve fresh, simple, delicious food at a great value through the mission to Stand For Something Good.”

Culinary Director, Mark Rosati, added: “The Chick’n Shack embodies our modern approach to fine casual cooking – it’s about providing a simple, pleasurable and uncomplicated experience. It wasn’t until we found the chicken sandwich to be as flavourful as our ShackBurger that we knew we’d crafted something special that had earned its place on the menu. We couldn’t be more excited to bring Chick’n Shack to our U.K. fans.”

While the Chick’n Shack has launched in said selected Shacks, it will debut in Cardiff from 4th May, and finally in Shake Shack Covent Garden in early Summer.

At the time of publication, Shake Shack were unavailable to answer questions re cooking and preparation of the chicken in relation to the issue of cross contamination with non-Halal ingredients.
