Two Buns (The Better Burger) – Harrow
Two Buns is a newly opened burger establishment in Harrow that’s got character.
Its bold and bright urban decor gives it a distinctly modern look that’s sure to impress. It has somewhat of an American feel about it with a retro showtime cinema sign which read at the time: “Now Showing: Buffalo Wings”.
But, with a prominent counter that confronts you upon entering, Two Buns seems to come across as more a higher end fast food joint than anything else.
DRINKS
In terms of consistency, they certainly know how to do some good shakes.
Chocolate was spot on! Thick, luscious and chocolatey with dark pieces of chocs to slurp up and devour through sufficiently wide straws. Recommended!
Though equally thick and creamy, the Skittles flavour split the crowd. One Lion found it to be overly sweet, while the other two enjoyed the surprisingly tangy taste it delivered.
The Reese’s Peanut Butter & Chocolate was adequate. Equal in consistency, this was nice, with the peanut flavour coming through fairly well.
SIDES
These chicken wings were somewhat different. Unlike their conventional counterparts, Two Buns’ were entirely boneless, yet chunky and satisfying.
The Buffalo Wings were strong in flavour and quite moist. Coupled with the onion and tomato garnish, we thoroughly enjoyed these.
These BBQ Wings weren’t available on the official menu at the time of said review. Nonetheless, Two Buns were kind enough to give us an exclusive taster to guage feedback.
Flavour-wise, however, these didn’t quite deliver on flavour as their Buffalo cousins. If these are to wow, the taste of the BBQ needs to be elavated. Perhaps they might consider smoked BBQ as something unique.
SAUCES
Their in-house made sauces were impressive both in taste and consistency. The Two Buns sauce was good, while the Chipotle slightly thicker and pleasantly chilli.
FRIES
What made these fries different was the potato skin found on some, which gave them a rustic edge, as well as extra crunch and texture.
Superb Imli Fries! The sweetness of the imli (Tamarind) sauce went so well with the fresh onions and tomatoes garnish. And with plentiful cheese running off the side, we were left scrabbling right down to the last, soft cheesy-sweet morsel.
Not bad! While the beef was moderately flavourful, it needed some kick to it to really excite us. Nothing outstanding!
BURGERS
These burgers comprise of two 3oz patties that are grill cooked using butter, yes, butter!
Despite its slim appearance, Two Buns’ signature burger – the one that ultimately defines them – was packed full of flavour.
With an extremely soft and delicate texture, the meat was deliciously tender and succulent with, we suspect, the butter enriching the flavour of the patties.
If we could again, we’d ask for a triple layer and pay whatever on top.
What made The Club different to the above was the addition of egg and bacon rashers. But, did it enhance the burger in any way? Not quite!
We’re not sure what their default cooking of the egg is, but, in our case, it turned out ‘over hard’. Had it had a runny centre, however, then perhaps the familiar taste of the yoke may have brought something to the table.
As to the rashers, then they needed to at least be crispy to provide that extra textural dimension.
All in all, not bad, but quite underwhelming compared to the above!
A simple enough burger with plentiful cheese.
The coating of the chicken breast, which was soft and tender to the bite, had a good texture to it – almost chewy in places.
It had a slight tang to it, which was good. Decent!
This was a far better chicken burger.
The Buffalo sauce delivered what The Grilled One couldn’t quite – bags of strong flavour with that customary hint of chilli.
With lots of additional white ranch sauce, this tasted fresh and vibrant.
Despite the bun being fairly soft, it held up pretty well to all that tasty wetness.

I went down with the Mrs and got the beef burger. Ye, it was well made and tasted good too. Definitely recommended. I got the imli fries which were a treat. The chocolate shake was good. Its great to have a decent burger place on my side of the stix for once.

I usually order food from there but recently looked up their rating on the fsa website and it has been given a 1 so I’m a little hesitant about ordering from there again. Will see whether they make any improvements to this.
