Zouk Lounge Lebanese Wolverton Milton Keynes

Lebanese Zouk Lounge opens in Wolverton

By Sabuhi Usmani

We were excited about the new opening of yet another Halal restaurant in Wolverton, Milton Keynes, a few weeks ago.

This time it was Lebanese Zouk Lounge, and so we headed there one afternoon for lunch.

We did not order any starters, but received a complementary starter of mixed cold meze.

The cold mezza was bright and vibrant, but if anything the flavour lacked that Lebanese hit I’ve come to love.

I’ve had better, although quite frankly I’ve also had much, much worse.

Zouk Lounge Lebanese Wolverton Milton Keynes Wraps

Shawarma Lamb (left) – Roasted thin slices of marinated Prime Lamb, served with Sesame Oil Sauce, Onion, Parsley & Tomato, £5.00
Shawarma Chicken (right) – Roasted thin slices of marinated Chicken breats. Garlic Suace, Tomato & Pickles, £4.50

The best value for money would have to be these wraps. At £5.00 to £6.50, ours were stuffed with well marinated chicken and lamb, as well as plenty of salad and pickles.

If the other wrap options follow the same principles, then it has to rank right up there with one of the best lunch choices in Wolverton.

Lamb Shish £6.50, Chicken Shish £5.00

The lamb and chicken shish were nice. Good portion sizes with salad and pickles.

Zouk Lounge Lebanese Wolverton Milton Keynes Lamb Chops

Lamb Chops – Lamb Chops served with Onion & Pasley, £13.00

Lamb chops were the most delicious item of the whole lunch – soft and juicy chops coated in mild spices.

In the end, we ordered a chicken shawarma wrap, a lamb shawarma wrap, lamb chops with chips, a lamb shawarma platter with chips, and a chicken shawarma platter with rice.

We had no complaints over our wraps and I couldn’t find anything bad to say about the shawarma platters either.

The food was presented quite promptly with prompt service too; and for the price, the portion sizes were good.

I think I should say here that I understand my views on the food might be starting to sound fairly dull. However, it’s worth pointing out that the food is not necessarily the main draw.

Clearly the café is a major part of Zouk Lounge. If you fancy a quick bite, then call in for a wrap. But since the key to this place is in the name – Zouk Lounge – the real point of this place is out the back, almost hidden behind the counter, and that’s the shisha lounge.

In all fairness to them, I’m not sure that Zouk Lounge will make it into my ‘Best Restaurants in Milton Keynes’ list. But who knows, stranger things have happened. I will be happy to re-visit every now and then to grab me another one of those wraps.
