Dishoom Kensington soft launch 50% off tomorrow

Dishoom is a well known Indian restaurant chain with a number of locations across the Capital to which one more will be added tomorrow.
The renowned brand will open the doors to its Kensington branch with a generous 50% off all food (no bookings) from Thursday 16th until Wednesday 22nd November (8am-11pm weekdays, 9am-11pm weekends).
Immediately thereafter, however, the restaurant will close for a short period in preparation of an immersive theatre production called ‘Night at the Bombay Roxy’, which will open with a half launch, before closing again for its official opening in December.
But before elaborating on that, here’s the most important information: as with all its branches, Dishoom Kensington will also cater for Halal.
Dishoom has confirmed with FtL: “All of our lamb and chicken is Halal and is sourced from Halal certified suppliers. We have copies of the certificates (HFA). That is across all our cafes.
“Please note that we also have alcohol, sausages and bacon on our menu. All non-Halal items are cooked on a separate griddle or in a specific pan. All utensils are washed thoroughly after being used for these products. These items are also stored in a separate part of the refrigeration area.
“Many of our chefs strictly only eat Halal – so they are very conscientious in making sure all of this is observed.”

With that said, once the soft opening phase ends, the restaurant will close from the 23-26 November, before opening for a half launch from 27 November til 14 December for the theatre production during which restaurant service will operate on weekdays between 8am-4pm (last seating at 2pm).
And though the restaurant will be closed for shows from 4pm weekdays and all day on weekends, Dishoom Kensington will be accepting bookings from 27 November.
Once the theatre-run ends, the new branch’s official opening will then take place promptly at midday on Friday 15 December.
Going back to the soft opening – the restaurant will, of course, be open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon chai, dinner and late tipples.
As such, expect to find all those quirky Indian dishes quintessential of the 1960’s Bombay cafe scene from the Kejriwal breakfast (double fried eggs on chilli cheese toast), to the Roomali Rolls for lunch, but not forgetting the Kensington branch’s Chef Special: Mutton Pepper Fry.
