The Official Halal Awards 2017 winners are…
Winners of The Official Halal Awards 2017 are beginning to be announced in absentia today following the inaugral ceremony’s cancellation last week.
While it was scheduled to be celebrated at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham on 20 November, organisers were forced to postpone the event just four days before till January 15.
It was then announced on 9 Jan that while “there will be no award ceremony on the night due to unforeseen circumstances” the event would still go ahead with winners of each category being announced today and awards being posted out.
Organised by Oceanic Consulting, an ethnic promotions and consulting company behind a number of successful award ceremonies that include The British Muslim Awards and The Curry Awards, the first winner is Lewis Pie & Pasty Co. who wins the Halal Product of the Year.
The Halal Awards is also recognising what it calls the “Highly Commended” winner – equivalent to a runner-up award – which for this category is Piemezzanae.
The winner of the Halal Food Chain of the Year is Watford High St Pepe’s, while the Highly Commended winner is Rooster Piri Piri.
With the overall winner for the Halal Butcher of the Year being HMC Halal, the following are the regional winners:

- North East – Newcastle Halal Food Store
- Yorkshire – Karim Bros
- East Midlands – PAK FOODS
- West Midlands – Pak Continental Supermarket

The overall winner of the Halal Restaurant of the Year is Manjoros in Birmingham, with the regional winners being:

- North West – The Food Box
- North East – Khushi Indian Buffet Restaurant
- Yorkshire – Zouk Tea Bar and Grill Bradford
- East Midlands – Fernandez Grill House Ltd
- West Midlands – Manjoros (Birmingham)
- East of England – Lagona
- South – El Halal
- London – Steakout
- Wales – Mirchi Indo-Pak Halal Restaurant.
While the overall winner for the Halal Takeaway of the Year is Santa’s Pizza, here are the regional winners:
- North – Chilli Pepper

- North East – Frando’s Peri Peri
- Yorkshire – MacDonners
- East Midlands – Doorstep Desserts
- West Midlands – Caspian Pizza

Also, overall winner of the Halal Retailer of the Year is Green Supermarket, the regional winners are:

Similarly, the overall winner for the Halal Abattoir of the Year is Janan Meats, the regional are:
- North – Gafoor Pure Halal
- South – Janan Meats
The winner in the Food Entrepreneur of the Year is Kaysor Ali at Steakout Official, and the Highly Commended winner is Tariq Halal Meat UK Ltd.
The winner in the Best European Halal Supplier is Anatolia Helal Food GmbH – Baklava specialists originating from Germany.
The winner of the Halal Street Food of the Year is Indico Street Kitchen and the Highly Commended winner is Rukhsanas.
The winner of the Recognition Award is Medina Poultry & Meat Products and the Highly Commended winner is Nafees Bakers & Sweets.
The winner of the Food Event of the Year is London Halal Food Festival.
The winner of the Halal Food Blog of the Year is Feed the Lion – Halal Food News, while Highly Commended Halal Food Blog of the Year is Halal Chronicles.
The winner of the Halal Drink of the Year is The Mocktail Company and the Highly Commended winner Evoca Drinks.
The winner of the Halal Caterer of the Year is R&K Catering Limited and the Highly Commended winner Loonat Catering Services LTD.
