Tawa Roadside Indian to open in Shefford, Bedford
HALAL STATUS Fully Halal food menu • Alcohol served
An exciting restaurant will soon be serving the tantalising flavours of Indian cuisine in Shefford near Bedford soon.
Tawa Roadside Indian will be a “spacious and airy” eatery whose menu will range from Indian roadside dining items to “railway cuisine” and even Indian coastal-style dishes.
Located on the High Road with a large car park for up to 50 cars, Tawa will be offering a fully Halal menu, including the rarity of Halal vension, and will be “offering a comprehensive selection of freshly flavoured cooking”.
Although described as a ‘Bar Restaurant’, its aim will be to “provide an inviting and spacious environment, fresh and flavoursome cooking”.
Perhaps the most exciting detail is that the menu will be “overseen by an experienced team of chefs, including those formerly at London’s Michelin-starred Benares”.
Starters include various street food chaats such as Aloo Papri Chaat, Bangla-Scotch Quail’s eggs wrapped in spicy lamb, and Chatpata Crispy Calamari.
Since a ‘tawa’ is a circular cast iron griddle pan used in Indian cooking, their ‘Tandoor, Barbecue & Roasts’ section features dishes like Kasundi Beef Tikka – beef marinated with grain mustard, ginger & Kashmiri chilli, as well as Achari Haloumi, among other items.
“Regional Specialities” will feature a host of curries with Kolhapuri Garlic Chilli Chicken, Coorgi Coconut Lamb cooked with coconut milk, and a Rajasthani Venison Curry “from the land of famed forts and palaces”.
Otherwise, Tawa Roadside Indian will be serving up everyone’s favourite classic curries with vegetarian and vegan dishes being well catered for.
While an opening date hasn’t been announced yet, we’ll keep you informed as soon as we find out.
