Turkish Kekik Kitchen launching this Monday in Bromley
HALAL STATUS Fully Halal food menu • Alcohol servedUPDATE 22/11/2019
A new restaurant in Bromley whose menu has been inspired by “one of the most ancient herbs of all time”, thyme, will be launching this coming Monday 25 November.
Kekik Kitchen says it “offers a new approach on the Turkish restaurant experience… with brilliantly infused thyme dishes and a meat inspired menu”.
The restaurant’s chefs will “simmer the savory thyme sprigs on a delicious platter of kebabs, meatballs, stews, meat marinades, meat fillings and much more”.
Although alcohol is being served, the management of Kekik, which actually means thyme in Turkish, has confirmed with us: “All of our meats are Halal and we will only be working with Halal suppliers, which means we won’t have any risks of cross-contamination with non-Halal meats.”
With the herb being used in both fresh and dry forms, a dish to look out for from the Meze section could be the Filibe Kofte – rump of lamb, minced and specially blended with fresh herbs before being charcoal grilled.
They also offer half-a-dozen dishes from the Authentic Cuisine section such as the slowly baked fillet of diced lamb called Ali Nazik that comes with peppers, tomatoes, an aubergine puree, garlic yoghurt and is served with rice or bulgur.
Otherwise, they have a good selection of grilled meats that includes the Celtik Iskender – a shoulder of lamb served with homemade bread, fresh herbs, tomato sauce and topped with sizzling butter and yoghurt.
