Panda’s Kitchen wins Deliveroo’s inaugural ‘Best Halal’ award
The winner of Deliveroo’s ‘Best Halal’ restaurant award has put its success down to its strong foundation and an “amazing team”.
Chinese takeaway Panda’s Kitchen in East London’s Forest Gate was one of 21 winners in Deliveroo’s inaugural restaurant awards which saw over 70,000 public votes cast across 19 categories.
“Alhamdulillah, we have an amazing team who are motivated and work hard to deliver the end result – real Chinese food, delivered fast,” said co-owner Wajid.
He believed that in order “to be successful at any business, the foundation needs to be strong before laying any bricks down”.
Wajid added that although the award was unexpected, he was delighted by the “support from our customers that enabled us to win this award. We’re grateful and thank everyone who made this happen”.
As a small takeaway with limited seating, Panda’s Kitchen is fully Halal and HMC certified, which Wajid says “removes any doubt whether or not the food served was Halal or contaminated with non-Halal meat”.
Describing his establishment as one that offers an “authentic Chinese takeaway experience” with food “cooked fresh every day by amazing Chinese chefs”, the restaurant’s most popular dishes include: Singapore Chow Mein, Mongolian Lamb, and its customisable Half & Half box.
There were other Halal-friendly restaurants which triumphed too including Wok to Walk in London’s Marylebone which actually won ‘Best Chinese’.
The Chilli Pickle, which confirmed with FtLion that it caters for Halal chicken and lamb with no other non-Halal meat on its menu, winning ‘Best Indian’.
While two dessert franchises were also successful with Kaspa’s being named ‘Best Dessert Only Restaurant’ and Heavenly Desserts winning the ‘Best Eco-Friendly’ award.
All businesses will now be supported by Deliveroo by being included in a forthcoming £30,000 marketing campaign.
