Chik’n opens in London’s Angel despite lockdown delay
HALAL STATUS Halal chicken (bacon served; no cross-contamination) • Alcohol servedIntending to launch 2-weeks before lockdown commenced, Chik’n have finally managed to open their third London branch in Angel.
Announcing the opening on Upper Street, the chicken specialists posted on Instagram: “Not quite the launch we had planned but god it’s good to be open again and watch London slowly come back to life. Next dream – letting you sit down inside (safely).”
Although bacon is served on the menu, the restaurant has assured us that there’s no cross-contamination between its preparation and that of the fully Halal chicken.
For the moment, they’re offering both pick-up from 12pm till 9.30pm, with click and collect available on their website, and delivery until 10.30pm via Deliveroo.
With branches in Baker Street and Soho, Chik’n are known for serving chicken that’s brined overnight in buttermilk for an “impossibly crunchy secret coating” before being cooked in British rapeseed oil to ensure “the healthiest way to fry chicken”.
They promise “next level fried chicken sandwiches”, such as the Spice Up Your Life and BBQ Deluxe, all served in handmade potato buns, as well as wings and tenders, served with house-made sauces, and plenty of sides.
