Halal-friendly restaurants win Deliveroo Awards 2021

The Deliveroo Restaurant Awards 2021 was announced yesterday by a panel that included TV chef Big Zuu and restaurant critic Grace Dent.

Five brands catering for Halal across London and beyond from a list of 22 have been named as winners this year.

Perhaps the biggest accolade has gone to London eatery Wingstop which is Deliveroo’s Best Restaurant of the Year.

Best Newcomer award went to Manchester’s Salt & Pepper who have informed FtLion that only their chicken and wings are Halal and cooked separately to avoid cross-contamination.

While Dishoom won Best Newcomer last year, this year its numerous branches across the capital have been named Best Indian Restaurant.

Two Halal dessert brands also triumphed with Creams winning Best Family Restaurant, and luxury parlour Heavenly Desserts voted Best Dessert-only Restaurant.

Lebanese eatery Maroush in London, which has been going strong since 1981, was named Best Middle Eastern Restaurant.
