The Chocolate Factory (Desserts) – West Ealing, London
HALAL STATUS Fully HalalThe Chocolate Factory on Uxbridge Road could just hold the distinction of being West Ealing’s very first fully Halal dessert parlour.
With a rear entrance accessible via a paid-for car park on Leeland Terrace, this spacious restaurant offers comfortable boothed seating that extends all the way towards the back.
While this is, to our knowledge, their first branch, the menu, like the venue, is a large one, with a good selection of choices to consider.
Ranging from the cakes, cookie doughs, and gelatos, to sundaes, shakes and smoothies, they also do freshly made waffles, crepes and pancakes.
In addition to hot and cold beverages, their biggest emphasis appears to be their specials, which even include dessert pizzas.
Otherwise, these specials comprise of items such as a tiramisu, sticky toffee pudding, apple crumble, a number of profiteroles and churros, and even a chocolate fondant.
CAKES
While the presentation of this Lotus Biscoff Cheesecake was at best slap dash, this was always going to struggle after being overloaded with the crushed biscuits and all that sauce.
The texture was acceptable, but failed to deliver on that smoothness one looks for in well made cheesecakes.
As for the mildly flavoured vanilla ice cream accompaniment, then this was soft, and thus played its intended role.
Again, while there was much left to be desired when it came to presentation, the Chocolate Fudge Cake itself was of a decent nature, turning out rich and chocolatey, with moments of deep fudgy goodness.
The lazy drizzle of chocolate over the top helped bring things together, with that dollop of vanilla ice cream helping to cut through all that richness.
This time, the drizzle of sauce over the top of this Mango and Passion Fruit Cake was more uniform in appearance, which was a welcome sight. The cake itself was above average, turning out relatively moist, though nothing outstanding.
SUNDAES
A haphazardly constructed Oreo Sundae, with that lightly flavoured vanilla ice cream being covered in chocolate drizzle, which quickly solidified, before being unimaginatively decorated with whole Oreos and a pair of waffer tubes.
WAFFLES
A freshly made waffle that was drizzled in what appeared to be a good quality chocolate sauce, sprinkled in chocolate shavings, and paired again with that vanilla ice cream swirl.
Nothing that’ll blow the mind in terms of ingenuity; but, delivers on the basics well enough.
MILKSHAKES
A well made Oreo shake, which was quite thick and luscious, and was topped with caramel sauce.

While there's plenty of variety, with the usual flower-walls installed therein for the Instagrammers, the slapdash approach at presentation belies the price point at this place. Average at best, and typical of the many Halal dessert places you'll find here, there and thither.
