Pizza Hut soon to serve Halal in UK, says London store manager

Pizza Hut sites across the UK will soon be catering for Halal meat, according to the manager of a store in south west London (story credit: The Hungry Running Dad).

Salik Muhammad, who manages the delivery site in Norbury’s London Road, has told FtLion that the international restaurant chain will soon be serving Halal meat options.

He believed that the roll-out would not just be nationwide, including for both delivery and sit-in restaurants, but also expected it to be implemented within “2-3 months”, though perhaps as early as a month’s time.

Although Salik added that a specific date had not yet been announced, the Norbury delivery and takeaway store has already affixed a Halal ‘coming soon’ sign to its store-front.

The manager also confirmed that while pork will remain on the menu, the Halal pizzas were expected to be cooked separately.

But according to their UK website’s FAQ section, currently: “None of the food served at Pizza Hut in the UK and Ireland is halal certified.”

While Pizza Hut started in America’s Wichita, Kansas, back in 1958, before opening its first UK branch in London’s Islington in 1973, today it is owned by Yum! Brands Inc., and boasts over 700 restaurants and delivery outlets across the country.
