Chapati Man opens 1st restaurant in London Whitechapel
HALAL STATUS Fully HalalAn Indian street food business that’s been operating since 2007 has opened its first permanent restaurant.
Founded by husband-and-wife team Chris and Andrea Rai, Chapati Man has launched on New Road in east London’s Whitechapel.
With sites in New York and Sri Lanka, their menu “turn[s] out not just wraps and curries, but curry poké bowls, Indian snacks and chai, all made from scratch daily using modern cooking techniques”, says Chris.
Chapati Man has also launched retail ranges in Waitrose and Morrisons which, while not having landed an investment, was praised by Peter Jones on the BBC show Dragon’s Den.
