OshPaz introduces Uzbek cuisine to London’s Regent Street
HALAL STATUS Fully HalalUzbek restaurant OshPaz launched its third London site yesterday with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the UK being invited as the guest of honour.
Chef and owner Muzaffar Sadykov jointly cut the opening ribbon with Ambassador Ravshan Usmanov to mark the launch of his new site on Regent Street in St James.
As the founder of the ‘Uzbek Culture and Food Festival’, Muzaffar helped organise London’s first ever Uzbek cultural festival in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Uzbekistan, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in England, and Uzbek Diaspora UK.
Describing cheffery as being in his blood, Muzaffar revealed: “My grandfather and father were both chefs. From 11 years old, I started helping them in the summers at their restaurant, at their street food stalls and at big traditional weddings.
“I was always fascinated by the preparations and process needed to get the food just right for so many people. When I was 18, I became a professional chef whilst studying my IT degree at univeristy.”
Serving “authentic Uzbek street food”, OshPaz also has sites in Mercato Metropolitano and Seven Dials – the latter being OshPaz Dumplings.
