Sadiq ‘sold’ by Italian Cyprianis in London Locksbottom

Whilst in the south east of London, I came across this Italian restaurant called Cyprianis in Locksbottom.
Although not Halal, I was told that in addition to serving a variety of veggie food, they could also remove alcohol from any relevant dishes upon request.
Since I was fancying some pasta, their confirmation was enough for me to pay them a visit on the corner of Crofton Road.
King Tiger Prawns – Garlic butter, chilli and herbs £12.50
Informing the waiter of my Halal dietry requirements, Cyprianis’ Head Chef Raja assured me that I was in good hands as I put in an order of their recommended King Tiger Prawns.
What I received was an elegant plate with a quartet of prawns covered in a buttery sauce that helped kick start proceedings.
With the prawns being thick and plump, the garlic butter sauce was gorgeous, with heat lingering beautifully in the background.
King Prawn Spaghetti – King prawns, tomatoes, garlic, chilli, olive oil & herbs, £22.50
Given how well the prawns in the above dish were executed, I wanted more; so decided to try their King Prawn Spaghetti.
What a cracking plate of food, with plenty of those juicy prawns mixed in with al dente strands of spaghetti, which were covered in an exquisite tomato-based sauce that was herbaceous, with a touch of heat to keep things true.
Line Caught Fillet of Seabass – With new potatoes, broccoli, lemon butter, chive sauce, £27.50
Being told that the seabass had been delivered that morning, I was persuaded to give their pan-fried Line Caught Fillet of Seabass a go.
Presented on a bed of new potatoes, along with some broccolini and a wedge of lemon, was this perfectly made fish, with crispy skin that gave way to the delicate flesh of the seabass. Absolutely marvelous.
Suffice it to say that I was sold by Cyprianis. Had they catered for Halal in a more comprehensive way, I’d be making special trips just to visit them.
Not only is there some seating available outdoors, but they also have a private room they call ‘The Vault’ that’s available for hire.
