Founder of Akbar’s restaurant Shabir Hussain dies aged 56
Shabir Hussain, the CEO and founder of the multi-award winning restaurant chain Akbar’s, has died aged 56.
His janazah prayer will be held tomorrow after Asr prayer in his hometown Bradford’s Central Mosque on Darfield Street.
After first opening a small 28-cover eatery in the heart of Bradford way back in 1995, Shabir went on to establish one of the UK’s most decorated Pakistani curry houses.
Having won multiple awards for both Akbar’s and as a restaurateur, Shabir leaves his mark on the restaurant industry with 10 Akbar’s restaurants across the country which includes Scotland.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shabir Hussain, Chairman and CEO of Akbars Group of Restaurants, of Bradford, who passed away on 15th October 2024. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him,” FtLion was informed this morning.
The Whatsapp message added: “Please remember Shabir Hussain in your duas. May Allah (SWT) grant him the highest rank in Jannah and bring peace and strength to his family during this difficult time.”
