World’s first Halal-certified cruise to Antarctica launching in 2026
A cruise company that specialises in expedition trips to the polar regions has organised the world’s first Halal-certified cruise to Antarctica.
Albatros Expeditions made the historical announcement last week that the expedition ship for the cruise “will operate a fully Halal-certified kitchen”.
Calling it “a milestone in the history of expedition cruising”, the company revealed that the Halal project has been spearheaded the “polar industry’s only female Muslim expedition leader”.
Southeast Asia Business Development Manager, Rashidah Lim, who is an “industry veteran”, has worked to organise the 10 day trip which will accommodate for around 175 guests.
Scheduled to depart from Argentina’s Ushuaia on 3 January 2026, the price per person for a shared double-twin cabin on board the Ocean Albatros ship is $12,195 USD.
The expedition will involve navigating the Drake Passage towards the South Shetland Islands, before continuing to the Antarctic Peninsula via the Gerlache Strait.
