Great British Bake Off Ali Imdad’s brother opens Birmingham cafe
HALAL STATUS Fully HalalGreat British Bake Off contestant Ali Imdad’s brother, if you don’t know, has opened a new cafe in Birmingham.
Asim Imdad has followed in his more famous sibling’s footsteps, who runs Cocoa by Ali at the Mailbox, by launching De La Crèm on Temple Row.
The café is Asim’s first outlet and says he has high aspirations for the new place despite opening during lockdown.
“To be honest I’ve been surprised, we’ve been performing quite well even though we’re in a lockdown as we’re on a main walkway through the Central Business District, with a metro stop outside, so for those still venturing out for essential travel or business, they’re still dropping in and seeing what’s new,” he said.
While the menu has plenty of attractive desserts, there’s also a number of newly-introduced burgers as part of the café’s hot food selection.
With coloured buns, there’s an American Beef, Spiced Bean, Calcutta Chicken, and an Aloo Tikki Burger to consider, all of which can be washed down with freshly-made Mojitos and mocktails, gelatto-based shakes, ice teas and more.
Asim has also confirmed deliveries: “We’re hoping to start deliveries soon too, so both the office and residential community within the city can benefit from our new offering, which is a little bit different providing a range of food from a Calcutta Chicken Burger to a Chocolate Lava Cake Dome.”
