Amari brings Indian fusion to Darlington
HALAL STATUS Fully Halal food menu (exc. Japanese Wagyu) • Alcohol servedA large elegant restaurant promising “extraordinary service” with seasonal menus has opened in Durham’s Darlington.
Located on Duke Street, Amari is a 94-cover venue that provides “the highest quality Indian fusion cuisine set in an elegant restaurant”.
While alcohol is served, with a seemingly large bar catering for 48, the two-floored restaurant offers a predominantly Halal menu except for the Japanese A5 Wagyu.
Although “everything [else] we sell is Halal”, FtLion has been informed that “the Japanese wagyu beef, [which], as you maybe aware of already, you can’t get that Halal, unfortunately” with the kitchen using “separate board, knife, pans and freezer” to ensure no cross-contamination.
The owner of Amari added: “We want Amari to be a household name for the Muslim community too.”
With the aim of bringing “modern western dishes with eccentric eastern flavours”, among the more typical Indian starters there’s the less familiar Lobster Tail, while their Fusion Curries include a Duck with Butternut Squash.
Alongside their traditional curries, there’s also an Amari Exclusive of Lobster which will set you back £100 and requires 48-hours notice.
