And the winners of the Asian Restaurant Awards 2018 are…

The UK’s best Asian restaurants, takeaways, chefs and their suppliers were celebrated in Manchester last night with many catering for Halal.

Winners of the Asian Restaurant Awards were announced at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate hotel after a shortlist was determined by over 100,00 votes from members of the public.

The winners were chosen by a judging panel that included Chairman Pat Chapman, founder of the Curry Club, as well as Michelin Star Chef and 2006 Chinese Masterchef winner Bill Poon, among others.

Organised by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), an organisation that represents the nation’s 30,000 Asian and Oriental restaurants, the event was presented by BBC World News Anchor Babita Sharma.

Even before a list of winners was published earlier this evening, some of the winners had already announced their triumph through social media.

Asha’s Manchester posted an image of their award for ‘Best Casual Dining of the Year’, while the Aagrah Group of Restaurants won the North of England’s ‘Best Asian Restaurant Chain’.

Another noteworthy winner was London’s Rasa Sayang in China Town, which has been reviewed by FtL and received a 3/5 ROAR rating (see review here).

Cafe de Akber in Bradford was awarded ‘Best Asian Restaurant in Yorkshire & Humber’, and Royal Nawaab Manchester won ‘Best Buffet Restaurant Award’.

The ‘Best Indian Restaurant, Manchester’ was won by Ziya Asian Grill, and the ‘Best Asian Restaurant, Warwickshire’ by Millennium Balti.

Asma Khan of Darjeeling Express fame added to her collection of accolades after she was awarded ‘Female Entrepreneur of the Year’
