Indian restaurant group to debut in London with Pali Hill
HALAL STATUS Halal lamb and chicken (cooked separately) • Alcohol servedOur Halal meat is Lamb and Chicken. However, Beef and Veal are not Halal.
One of India’s most successful restaurant groups will be making their London debut in an upmarket area of the City of Westminster in just two weeks time.
The people behind Azure Hospitality will be launching Pali Hill in place of classic Indian restaurant Gaylord that’s been a Mortimer Street landmark in Fitzrovia for over 50 years.
Having been named after an old Mumbai neighbourhood, Pali Hill will be located on the ground floor with a large grill taking centre stage in their open kitchen, while a separate cocktail bar will be situated downstairs.
An eclectic menu of sharing plates inspired by India’s diverse culinary heritage will include seasonally changing small plates such as:
- Girolle and potato stuffed paratha with ghee and lime preserve.
- Pan-fried lamb sweet breads with black pepper, cumin, crispy curry leaves and mint.
- Stuffed Aubergine, green tomato chutney and hung curd with rice flour.
The 60-cover eatery will also have gluten-free flatbreads as well as regional classics, chaats, home-style dals and more.
Pali Hill confirmed: “Our Halal meat is Lamb and Chicken. However, Beef and Veal are not Halal,” before adding: “After checking with our butcher and Chef, we can verify that, yes, the lamb chops and chicken are cooked on the grill; and the beef on a seekh in the tandoor; and veal is a separate slow cooked dish.”
