Halal at London’s newly launched Boxpark Wembley

Mitsuryu is unique in that it happens to be, to our knowledge, the first authentic Japanese restaurant in London, and perhaps even the UK, to offer a fully Halal food menu.

Having recently reviewed their establishment in London’s iconic Chinatown (grab your exclusive 10% discount here for said branch), we can confirm that their food is fantastic, with dishes shortlisted for our End of Year Awards [Ed. NB. – This restaurant has now closed down].

This time, Mitsuryu’s head chef, Kenny, is bringing diners his experience of authentic Japanese cuisine, which he’s honed for over 20 years, and the exciting flavours of high quality handmade sushi, but without having to pay those high end prices.

Smoky Boys are a familiar Halal burger franchise whose Hounslow branch we also recently reviewed (grab your exclusive 20% discount here for said branch), and which impressed, with quality burgers and impressive shakes.

You can now enjoy their high quality burgers and barbecue in Wembley (unit 20). Be sure to look out for their “bites” as Grilled Haloumi Skewers, a host of signature burgers including the Haus Burger, Smoky Chick and Falafel and Cheese, their Grilled Chicken Wings, and their home-made Beef Dogs.

Located at unit 14, Cut + Grind is an award-winning burger company whose patties are ground freshly inhouse and twice a day.

Having won the National Burger Awards for their Juicy Classic (here’s an exclusive interview with head chef Abdussamed), manager Christina has informed us that the chicken is fully Halal. In addition, Cut + Grind have the option of Halal beef burgers too, which are cooked in a pan, as opposed to being grilled directly, so as to avoid any cross-contamination. She’s also said that while they’re currently determining whether the beef fat, in which the regular fries are cooked, is Halal, there’s sweet potatoe fries as an alternative.

The duo behind Drums & Flats have always had a passion for chicken wings. Following a series of pop-ups, kitchen takeovers, and after opening their first permanent location in 2017, they now bring that passion to Wembley. Located at unit 16, the founders have confirmed: “All our chicken is Halal – wings, nuggets or a burger – it’s all covered. And we only sell chicken so there’s no other meats.”

Hola Guacamole offers Mexican classics based on authentic recipes that are brought to life using those quintessential Mexican ingredients of black beans. fresh salsa with different degrees of sharpness, and of course freshly made guacamole.

Located at unit 10, Hola Guacamole owner, Margarita, has informed us that all chicken is Halal. And given that the beef (she’s currently working towards securing a Halal supplier) and pork are pulled, there isn’t any issues with cross-contamination when it comes to the prep work and cooking of said chicken.

Having only recently launched fine dining establishment Kutir, Michelin-starred Chef Rohit Ghai and Abhishake Sangwan (of Gymkhana, Hoppers, Bombay Bustle and Jamavar fame) go casual with Koolcha.

The good news is that the food menu here is fully Halal, and is inspired by the chef’s family recipes as a child, serving traditional North Indian ‘Kulcha’ flatbreads stuffed with unique flavours.

Mama Jacq’s food is deeply rooted in family and inspired by owner Jacqueline’s childhood memories of her mother’s home cooking. Founded in 2013 as a sauce company, it is now serving a modern take on traditional Caribbean recipes, which includes the award-winning curry goat, at unit 25.

We can confirm that not only is all meat Halal, but that only one item, namely the Jackie Boozy Barbecue, contains alcohol.

Spice Shack is a family-run kitchen that offers a contemporary twist on traditional Indian street food, and have confirmed with us: “We are fully Halal in all three of our sites, including Wembley.”

The brand has two established restaurants – one in west London’s Park Royal and the other in Harrow – and is now serving its exciting food at unit 17.
