Bruberry bistro cafe in Leicester boasts restaurant-style menu

Someone once said that ‘cooking is love made visible’. That’s more than true of Bruberry in Leicester’s Evington (sponsored by HMC online meat purveyors Halal Editions).

Located on the quiet corner of Moat Road is a bistro cafe whose husband and wife team ensure it punches way above its weight.

The first thing one notices when walking into this cosily decorated, 26-cover eatery is the meticulous attention to detail, with comfortable colour-coordinated seating, and a display counter showcasing a mouthwatering array of food items.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Bruberry is just how unique and extensive their menu really is, with exciting breakfast and brunch choices, smoothie bowls, French toast, American pancakes, burgers, waffles, backed potato, and plenty of beverage options.

Truth be told, their menu would be more representative of a restaurant than a small bistro cafe.

Desi-twists ensure Bruberry is not your ordinary bistro cafe

Just look at the sheer variety and depth of their breakfast and brunch menu as proof of this fact, with the Desi Breakfast being the perfect example.

Which other cafes or restaurants complement their masala omelette, and the choice of masala beans or choley, with mango ras or halwa, before completing the experience with roti, paratha or toast, and a cup of soothing karak chai?

If you want another example, then feast your eyes on this authentic Kheema Paav, with homemade lamb mince cooked using a secret family recipe to help it stand head and shoulders above the competition, and served with perfectly toasted buttered buns.

If you’re looking for something lighter, then you might want to consider their sweet or savoury pastries, like their Pulled Beef Croissant, or a Pistachio & Rose Cream filled Croissant.

Despite their differences, you’ll be hard-pressed to choose between the two. While the pulled beef in the former is slow-cooked to ensure that moist tenderness, the latter contains an addictively good pistachio and rose cream, in large croissants that are as flaky as they come.

With summer around the corner, one section of their food menu that will definitely be an option is their carefully-conceived Smoothie Bowls.

The Berries and Spinach bowl, for instance, has so much about it to admire, with granola that’s soaked in a blend of fresh berries, before being topped with bananas and the health-giving benefits of flaxseeds, which are known for improving digestive health and lowering cholesterol levels.

If you’re after something left-field, then why not pair Bruberry’s newly introduced Sweet & Sour Waffle, which has already been a hit with customers, with a beautifully made and presented inhouse Virgin Mojito.

The combination of a refreshingly zesty mojito with freshly made waffles, topped with tender chunks of fried chicken that’s marinated in a finger-licking buffalo sauce, and paired with a desi-inspired spicy take on maple syrup, is a match made in heaven.

For those with a sweet tooth, then you’d be remiss to look past their Waffles and French Toasts, with the Churros French Toast below being a popular one.

Thick pieces of brioche bread that are positively saturated in an aromatic cinnamon-infused egg batter, before being fried to a crispy finish, sprinkled in sugar, drizzled in the finest Belgian chocolate, paired with a scoop of salted caramel ice cream, and garnished with slices of strawberries and blueberries.

And that’s just a select few of what is otherwise a menu full of choices that have received Bruberry’s clever twist to ensure that what may at first appear to be ordinary cafe items are, in fact, anything but.
