The retailer Cake Box has announced the big news that it is to buyout UK’s oldest Asian confectionary brand Ambala for £22 million.
Known for its egg-free cakes, Cake Box said the deal includes both Ambala itself for £16 million and its manufacturing facility for £6 million.
Cake Box’s Chief Executive Officer, Sukh Chamdal, said on its Youtube channel: “I am delighted to announce Cake Box Holdings PLC’s acquisition of Ambala Foods Limited – the oldest brand of Asian confectionary in the UK – in their 60th anniversary year.
“This is an established brand which already shares Cake Box’s values and is yearning for growth, innovation, and modernization.”
Describing Ambala as a “brand that holds a special place in the hearts of many within the Indian subcontinent and its diaspora”, he reassured customers going forward that Cake Box would be “honouring the authenticity and craftsmanship that Ambala Foods is known for”.
