Move aside Nandos, because the first thing to note with Chilli Flames is their authentic Peri Peri flavour that’s actually driven by African Bird’s Eye Chilli procured from the shores of Mozambique.

With four marinations to choose from – Lemon & Herb, Medium, Hot, and Fiery – the end result is outstandingly good chicken that’s flame-grilled to a crispy finish.

And this dish of carefully butterflied prawns served on a bed of messy fries is a prime example of not only how varied their menu is, but how meticulous they are in their prep-work.

The result is a bowl of soft crustaceans coated in a dangerously addictive, sweet and chilli glaze that you simply will not get enough of.

When it comes to burgers, then you certainly won’t find Chilli Flames’ versions at your locals, with the Prego Porto, for instance, filled to the rafters with marinated strips of tender and chewy beef, lovingly blanketed in plenty of American cheese, and served in a semi-crusty bun.

If you’re feeling peckish though, but fancy something wholesome and healthy, then it has to be the Mezze Platter, whose assortment will leave you pleasantly surprised.

In addition to a smooth bowl of hummus with, of course, an obligatory splash of their peri peri to give it that kick, there’s also smooth segments of halloumi cheese sexily seared with griddle marks, a trio of freshly fried falafel balls, as well as nan bread, all accompanied by a 50-50 dip of yoghurt and jam.

But if we did have to highlight one more dish that captures the robust flavours of the region they’re representing, it would be the Loaded Maxi Fries below.

Served in a skillet, this delivers on a plethora of textures, with the chunks of succulent chicken, diced red and green peppers, and red onions served on a bed of traditional fries, before being topped by a generous layer of fritter crisps, and a drizzle of zingy mayo sauce.

All this should be sufficient in giving you a taster of why Chilli Flames are located across the country, with venues in Leicester, Derby, Cardiff, Bolton, Birmingham, Livington, Glasgow, Nottingham, Dumfries, Kirkintiloch, Aberdeen, and London’s Greenford.
