Common Breads bring Beirut street food to London
HALAL STATUS Fully HalalA new Lebanese street food concept has been introduced to London in the form of Beirut street food.
Common Breads is a fully Halal bakery-cum-cafe that serves what are known as ka’aks on Buckingham Palace Road.
“Born in Beirut and baked in London”, these sesame-sprinkled “purse-shaped delicacies” are freshly baked before being hung in the window of their kitchen, just as they would be from cycles of Beiruti street vendors.
Alongside these ka’aks, Common Breads also do what are known as manouche flatbreads, both of which can be filled with a variety of fillings.
These can include za’atar, makanek sausage, coriander and turmeric egg salad; tahini, tuna and red shatta; hummus and rose harissa carrots; salmon and labneh, and more.
