Doctor in Glasgow opens ‘posh’ seafood restaurant Scallop’s Tale
HALAL STATUS Fully HalalA Glaswegian doctor has branched out to open a fully Halal seafood restaurant and takeaway in the Bearsden area of Glasgow.
Dr Usman Qureshi, who practices aesthetic medicin, has reportedly invested over £350,000 in Scallop’s Tale at Bearsden Cross.
Set over two floors, this smart 28-cover venue, while serving “freshly caught fish and seafood”, also caters for Halal chicken too, while offering a dry drinks menu.
Having secured the talents of Executive Chef Stephen Pohler, who has worked at the Lisini Dalziel Park Hotel, Hilton Garden Inn, Crowne Plaza and Radisson Red in Glasgow, the menu is certainly an exciting one.
Serving locally sourced seafood dishes, including vegetarian options, there’s scallops high tea for two, which includes two “posh fish and chips”, sourdough bread and tea with cakes and scones.
While for Appetisers there’s the Frito Misto platter with Calamari, Fish Cakes, Mussel Tempura, Sourdough Bread, Garlic Aioli, Squid Ink Mayo, Finished with a Pea Shoot and Rocket Salad.
With a selection of Bonnie Burgers, they also do Chips with a variety of sides, as well as dishes like Lemon & Black Pepper Breaded Salmon, Chicken Tempura, and Moules Mariniere (Mussels cooked in a Shallot, Garlic & Cream Sauce) accounting for some of their Signatures.
