Peterborough MP thanks Eagle Foods for ‘helping to save lives’
A Halal wholesale company in Peterborough received a letter of praise from its local MP for “leading the way” in “helping to save lives” during the Covid-19 outbreak.
The founder of Eagle Foods Makhtar Ali was personally thanked by Paul Bristow MP for his “goodwill and selflessness” in supporting the community’s “key workers and the most vulnerable”.
“During this unprecedented emergency, you have been leading the way, demonstrating to everyone Peterborough’s remarkable resilience and the strength of our community spirit,” wrote Mr Bristow.

Thanking the business for “going the extra mile to support to our key workers and the most vulnerable in our communities”, the MP added: “You are making a real difference to those on our frontline and are helping to save lives.”
Peterborough resident, Ishfaq Hussain, who brought Eagle Foods’ efforts to the attention of Mr Bristow, revealed how the wholesalers “also donated for the ruff [sic] sleepers of Peterborough today”.
He said: “I called them and the exact words were ‘anything you need, don’t even need to ask’. The true measure of a man is not what he has in his wallet, but what he has in his heart!”
Local football club F.C. Peterborough were also thankful to their sponsor Eagle Foods “for providing a fantastic service to the community especially during these testing times”.
Last week, Eagle Foods said they “were delighted to assist and donate when Daryl from APms Ambulance Service Ltd reached out to us for some safety masks, gloves and soft drinks”.
Mr Bristow concluded his letter to Makhtar: “Witnessing your goodwill and selflessness makes me proud of you and proud to represent Peterborough. We are one city and we will get through this together.”
