Eato in Chadwell Heath rated ‘wholesome & clean’

It was a while back when Samiul told me the good news of having gone into partnership with a cousin of mine and opened a restaurant.
So with my wife and I attended their establishment based on High Road in Chadwell Heath, no. 108, and was pleasantly surprised by the decor.
Samiul had always been a little on the lazy side, but in this venue, he had been incredibly creative with his ideas and designs. I guess when you have little resources, that’s when you have to get resourceful.
I admired his adorning of the walls and ceilings, with spare copper pipes, and bits of central heating systems.
I brushed my hands over the self made furniture, the chairs, and dining tables. it all had a rather rustic feel to it, and felt more ‘re-salvaged’ than home made. A truly nice job I thought, wearing my carpenters hat.
However, I swiftly took off my construction hat and put on my chef’s hat. After all, no matter how beautiful the settings may be, it would all be to no avail if the food didn’t stand up on its own merit.
As they started to bring out the starters and mocktails, my wife pulled out her mobile phone and started taking pictures. This was clearly a testimony to their presentation skills, as she is a particular lady who will only take photos of things she considers ‘beautiful’.
We started with the buffalo wings. The wings themselves were no different to anything else that was being served in any chicken shop in East London. But what set them apart was the incredibly delicious and lavish sauce that garnished them.
After that we had the mutton chops. Huge chops that were cooked perfectly. I was informed that not only was all their meat HMC certified, but also from a very reputable source.
They have requested that I not reveal this source as it’s not good if their competitors know all of their secrets. I respect that.
After a short pause, and taking some photos, they brought us the mains. Mexican salsa burger served with curly fries; Eato’s signature burger served with their Eato rice; Sea bass; and a portion of Mac and cheese chips.
What caught my eye was the funky colouring of the buns the burgers were served in. I have been informed that they do offer a vegan option besides the meat dishes, but I would recommend you inquire further if that’s your thing. I was too busy stuffing my face to care at that point or pay any attention to the conversation.
Everything was cooked to perfection; and Eato is a place that I would highly recommend, not only for couples, but also for small families. They have seating for up to 70 people, and the booths will comfortably sit 8-10 people if you want a little privacy.
The dessert looked amazing; but you would have to ask my wife about the taste as I am not a dessert person. However, despite being completely stuffed, she still managed a few bites of the chocolate sponge cake and ice cream.
All in all out of 10, I would give it an 8. Food was good, wholesome and clean. The service was great as the staff are really eager to please.
I hope they never lose this trait, even when they get really busy. The atmosphere was a relaxed and informal one.
My ONLY bit of negative criticism is the following. They MUST get rid of the plastic straws from their beautifully decorated cocktails. As social attitudes towards plastic changes, so must the owners of these types of establishments. They agreed to look into this swiftly. So a positive result for the planet in general. After all, we all must do our bit.
Finally, for doing this review, I have struck a deal with the management. Anyone visiting the restaurant, whether its to eat in or take away, will be offered a VERY generous 20% off the bill if you mention my name: ‘Salam Jones’. Enjoy. We did.
