10% off Eggland low priced epic new menu in London Fitzrovia
10% OFF Quote: ‘Feed the Lion’ (valid 31 May 2022) HALAL STATUS Fully HalalThe first time we visited Eggland last year, not only were they going by their original name Eggoland, but after rating their hugely impressive menu 4.5/5, their ‘Feeling Decadent’ duck burger went on to win #FtLionAwards ‘Best Burger’ of the year.
For those not in the know, the man behind this egg-ceptional restaurant is professional boxer Sohail Ahmad, whose personal journey involving his UK entry in the back of a lorry as a 12-year-old refugee fleeing war-torn Afghanistan is inspiring enough.
His 32-cover venue on Tottenham Street in London’s Fitzrovia was arguably one of 2021’s most publicised openings in the UK’s Halal restaurant sector.

Pro-boxer Sohail Ahmad smashing it out of Fitzrovia with Eggland (find out more about this name-change below)…
Sadly, the catchy name and theme of Eggoland will soon be reduced simply to Eggland after a threatening legal letter from, believe it or not, Legoland!
While Sohail was confident of knocking them out during a conceivably long and costly legal fight, he’s reluctantly decided to count his chickens and acquiesce to a less expensive (though no less troublesome) brand change.
In any case, Sohail has updated his egg-inspired menu with new breakfast items, a new side, and a new burger – the latter, it should go without saying, we were anxious to try.
BREAKFAST

Full English – Fried or scrambled eggs, maple beef bacon, beef sausage, hash browns, tomato, mushroom & beans, £9.50
Here’s the thing with Eggland: Irrespective of whether an o’s missing in their name or not, you won’t find quality missing in their approach. And this Full English breakfast is the perfect example.
Those glisteningly long, strandy slithers of beef bacon rashers aren’t your ordinary variety; but instead have been specially ordered for this menu item. In this case, the maple syrup didn’t just caramelise the rashers, thereby crisping them up to a tee, but also imparted just enough sweetness to compliment the beef’s smoky edge.
The beef sausages too have been especially prepared. Seriously though, who else do Halal sausages like these as part of their breakfast? Beautifully textured and superbly herbaceous, these were up there with some of the best we’ve had.
As for the rest, then everything else, particularly that large, saturated and spongy fried mushroom, was on point, making this a delicious meal.
RECOMMENDEDCan’t think of any other places that do egg and muffin with Halal bacon like Eggland do.
It was the sum of these outstandingly good parts that made this such a memorable little sandwich.
A lightly toasted, nicely buttered and pillowy-soft muffin that housed a sunny side up egg, which practically popped when bitten down upon to envelop those slightly chewy rashers, whose smoky-cum-saltiness was wonderfully tempered by the hint of tanginess from the creamy chipotle mayo.
RECOMMENDEDAs simple as this may sound, their Egg’n Cheese Muffin was executed to perfection, with again a large, thick, gorgeously toasted muffin containing a creamy mound of seasoned scrambled eggs combined with a mixture of cheese, chives, spring onions, and that chipotle mayo.
Truth be told, this was so good that we were left struggling over which of the two was better. But at £4.00, this particular one is a no brainer really.
May look a mess when unwrapped, but this was a delightful appetiser comprising of just three elements: a thick, crispy, buttery paratha boasting sufficient layers; and a combination of the sweet honey and lightly tart, creamy cheese. Very satisfying indeed.
BURGERS

Smash Burger – Two-patty burger with slices of melted American cheese, burger sauce, tomatoes & red onions, £7.00
Although the menu doesn’t make mention of this, we feel compelled to open up our adulation of their newly introduced Smash Burger, not least because it reinforces Eggland’s uncompromising approach in their use of quality ingredients, by pointing to the fact that they use double the quantity of American cheese.
And while we’ve highlighted enough how saturated the UK’s Halal smashed burger sector has become, this one, though simple-sounding, was executed with absolute precision.
With patties expertly seasoned, and copious sloppy cheese to boot, the balance of the sweetness and the subtle tanginess in this brilliantly constructed burger was as good as any smashed burger we’ve ever had.

What Came First? – Grilled chicken breast, caramelised onions, gherkins, scrambled eggs, American cheese & Chipotle mayo, £7.50
As the name might suggest, this is their take on an egg-oriented Chicken Burger.
With caramelised onions and gherkins providing hints of the sweet and sour, and the scrambled eggs totally amalgamated with heaps of delicious American cheese and diced spring onions and chives, the poultry was soft and succulent, resulting in the burger being only notches below its superior beefy counterpart above.
SIDES
RECOMMENDEDIn addition to those amazing Hash Brown Bites – all smothered in Parmesan & Truffle Oil – we enjoyed the first time round, Eggland has now introduced uber crispy fries covered in the same heady combination.
Plenty of piquancy courtesy of the grated parmesan cheese, with the zingy depth of the truffle oil permeating each and every bite. Dangerously addictive.
