Florence Pizza brings the authentic Italian to London Ilford
SPONSORED CONTENT HALAL STATUS Fully HalalThe old adage of never judging a book by its cover could not be more true for this seemingly unassuming pizza takeaway in east London.
Not only is the owner of Florence Pizza in Ilford’s Ley Street the restaurant’s pizzaiolo (pizza chef), but also boasts over a decade of experience, having acquired and honed his skills in Italy itself.
And he has been committed to delivering authentic Italian pizzas that are fully Halal, including sourcing high quality ingredients directly from Italy, ever since launching this pizzeria in 2021.
While he uses mozzarella cheese in place of the inferior cheddar, both the tomato sauce and the flour used in making his pizzas, as well as some other ingredients such as the olive oil, artichokes, and olives, are all Italian in origin.
‘From Florence with love’ – Authentic artisanal Italian pizzas
Florence Pizza’s menu is clear and concise, with a healthy variety of meat, veggie, vegan and fish-based pizzas that come in 12″ and 15″ sizes, in addition to a range of calzones – all of which are freshly-made in a specialised pizza oven procured from Italy.
Of course, when you have an experienced pizzaiolo who is as passionate and dedicated to his craft as Florence Pizza’s, the results are Halal artisanal pizzas not just of the highest taste and quality, but ones that are surprisingly light and satisfying.
Starting with the Quattro Formaggi, which means ‘Four Cheeses’. Not only is this an example of exceptional ingredients, but also the brand’s commitment in standing out from the crowd.
With no tomato sauce in sight, the umami-flavours delivered by the combination of the cheeses – Mozzarella, Gorgonzola, Ricotta, Parmesan Cheese and Brie – making this unique pizza an astoundingly tasty one.
The more traditional Amante Della Carne from the Meat Lovers Pizza range successfully merges Halal turkey ham, beef, chicken, and slices of pepperoni – all beautifully crisped to a finish – before completed with a sprinkling of oregano and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.
From their ‘Florence Special Pizza’ section is the Pizza Capricciosa, which is made special by the fact that it harmoniously combines slithers of beautifully crispy Halal turkey ham with mushrooms and artichokes.
The Pizza Gamberetti isn’t just another example of Florence Pizza constantly looking to innovate, but also a worthy new addition to their ‘Fish Lovers Pizza’ range.
Revolving around pieces of succulent prawn, what makes this item such a clever one is the addition of the artichokes, with the black olives being an extra on this occasion.
One stand out feature of all their pizzas is how light and addictively crunchy the crust is – no doubt achieved through the use of superior ingredients.
While Florence Pizza have a number of Calzones, which are pizzas folded over, their new Nutella Calzone from the dessert section is already a popular choice, with a layer of liquidy chocolate that marries perfectly with little chunks of salty ricotta cheese.
While it is true that the term ‘hidden gem’ is one that’s constantly being abused across social media, if there’s one place that’s earned this tag, it has to be Florence Pizza.
