Brexit-hit Frangos in Kingston closes Monday with 50% off
Frangos in Kingston will be closing down permanently this coming Monday 24th June after serving Halal chicken for 16 years.
The popular restaurant has blamed “Brexit uncertainty” and a “shift to online retailing” as reasons behind the closure.
Making the announcement this morning on Facebook, Frangos said that “as a parting gift” it will be offering 50% off the total bill when booking to dine-in on 23rd and 24th June.
Although located in Rotunda leisure and entertainment complex, Frangos said that similar to other restaurants, they too “have been going through tough times” recently.
“Like them we have experienced the perfect storm of rising costs, Brexit uncertainty, the shift to online retail causing lower footfall and ever rising rents making the Rotunda a very difficult place to operate at this time.
“Over the last two years we have tried to agree a fair rent with our landlord which has tripled since 2003 along with unsustainable business rates. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts we have not been able to reach a resolution,” the restaurant revealed.
Having served “over two million chickens” for 16 years, Frangos’ last day of service will be until 10pm on 24th June.
The restaurant concluded: “Thank you so much for all the love we have received and allowing us to be part of so many of your special occasions.
“From the bottom of our heart we would also like to thank all of our staff and suppliers without whom we could not have made this long journey.”
