GDK to open 40 stores in 2021 & aims for 350 in next 7 years
German Doner Kebab is aiming to launch 40 restaurants in 2021 and has development plans of opening another 350 over the next seven years.
The announcement comes after news that GDK is seeking to open 12 new UK restaurants by the end of this year creating 480 new jobs.
The fully Halal franchise has also appointed Rich Collie from Nando’s as Head of Project Management to meet its ambitious growth strategy.
GDK CEO Imran Sayeed said: “Rich truly strengthens our team and will be a key asset for us as we expand our restaurant footprint and develop the relationships with our multi-unit franchise partners as we forge ahead with our ambitions for growth.”
Having previously helped Nando’s new expansion during its busiest period of growth, including its first sustainable restaurant, Mr Collie said: “It’s very exciting to be joining German Doner Kebab as it enters a new period of relentless growth. The brand has truly disrupted the fast-casual space in the UK and there is huge consumer demand throughout the country.
“GDK’s growth ambitions are second to none and I look forward to contributing to the success of the business as it matures and brings the German Doner Kebab experience to even more people across the UK.”
With 70 international restaurants including 48 in the UK, GDK is looking to open two new sites in Sweden, one in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and two more in Canada having already launched in Ottawa and recently in Surrey, Vancouver.
