German Doner Kebab launches 50th UK site in Peterborough

The launch of German Doner Kebab in Peterborough also happens to be the fast-casual brand’s landmark 50th UK restaurant.
GDK had announced in October that it would be looking to open 12 restaurants across the country and creating 480 jobs by the end of this year.
The brand has in fact done one better opening 13 in places like Nottingham, Bradford, London and Edinburgh, thereby creating some 500 jobs in total.
GDK now employs over 1,500 people and hopes to add to its portfolio with plans of another 350 franchise units over the next seven years.
GDK CEO, Imran Sayeed, said: “Reaching 50 restaurants in the UK is a huge moment in our story and represents a huge achievement for everyone in the German Doner Kebab family.
In spite of the challenging times, he added: “We are now looking forward to building this momentum further into 2021 as we maintain our mission of building the fast-casual brand of the future.”
The 80-cover venue in Peterborough, which is spread across two floors, will be accessible through Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat.
