Gourmet Brothers in Hanwell London ‘will fill a hole’
By Aku Fu
HALAL STATUS Fully HalalSo, what to expect when approaching a standard-looking kebab shop-type venue that claims to sell gourmet burgers? Well, apprehension probably.
But you know, Gourmet Brothers in west London’s Hanwell has a nice logo that sells quality, and from afar the inside dooesn’t look like your average kebab shop.
In any case, I gave it a try, opting for the Gourmet Kick’n Jam burger on its own, which comes in at a middle-of-the-road £6.
Service was quick, and burger was given takeaway in an odd looking silver package.
After taking a few of the customary pics, I bit in; and you know what? It was not bad; it wasn’t, you know, outstanding, but it was a normal (air quotes) gourmet style burger.
Now, I judge a restaurant as being good on whether I would come back again? And I have to say, because these so-called burger joints are now a dime a dozen, I wouldn’t travel for this; but, if I lived in the area, I would order-in now and then.
On the same row of shops is a funky looking fish and chip shop and further down a bog standard kebab shop too, which does do the stock mass produced cheese burgers; and sometimes those might tickle my fancy more.
So the verdict? Yeah, if your passing by and feeling peckish, Gourmet Brothers’ burger will fill a hole.
