EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea footballer Hakim Ziyech opening Taco Taco

Moroccan & Chelsea footballer Hakim Ziyech will be opening a Halal-friendly restaurant very soon in east London, FtLion has been informed.
The Chelsea midfielder is co-founding the launch of Taco Taco later this month on Spitalfields’ busy stretch of Commercial Road.
With the grand opening scheduled for Wednesday 26 July, the restaurant has told FtLion: “We have 2 vegetarian options, 2 fish (including one prawn) and Halal chicken,” which it clarified “won’t be cross contaminated at all”.
The restaurant also confirmed: “We will not serve pork on the menu,” before revealing that “our beef won’t be Halal”.
Although there is a post of a pork-based dish on their Instagram, the account further clarified that “this was an initial media day where we cooked many tacos to go with our ‘anything can taco’ – Pork didn’t make the menu as we want respect our Halal dishes”.
Taco Taco to bring a twist to Mexican traditional tacos
The site itself will be an intimate one with a menu that’ll introduce a twist to the Mexican flavours that define the traditional taco.
Not only will a breakfast taco of sourdough tortilla with mozzarella, scrambled eggs, and pico de gallo, be made available until 11.30am on weekdays and 2pm on weekends, but the all-day menu seems left-key too.
Some ingredients being used will include poke taco with marinated salmon, teriyaki sauce and pickled cucumbers; pulled smoked anticucho chicken taco; as well as the dessert item of corn tortilla filled with creamy mascarpone mousse, roasted caramelised banana and Nutella.
Ziyech will be joining another Muslim sportsman to open a restaurant in London, professional boxer Sohail Ahmad, who has opened the award-winning Eggland (rated 4.5/5 by FtLion) in London Fitzrovia.
