With five roads all converging at Gants Hill station – Cranbrook Road, Woodford Avenue and Eastern Avenue – the range of cuisines in this area is enough to satiate the appetite of any ravenous foodie.
From fast food takeaway joints to more sophisticated dine-in establishments, here’s a complete list for you to consider next time you’re there.
Described by food blogger Halal Food Guy as “a simple and nice local indian restaurant [sic]”, Caraway, which says it’s also fondly known as ‘Vilayti Jeera’, is named after a plant native to Western Asia and Scandinavian countries.
The restaurant “combines the modern and the traditional, the eastern and the western influences to produce what is humbly referred to as ‘curry’ in these parts”.
This Muslim-owned brand only happens to be the biggest dessert restaurant brand in the country. This particular venue has all the familiar features that define the interior of a Creams’ restaurant, with a relaxing ambience, and plenty of options that include crepes, waffles, bubble tea, gelato ice cream, coffee, and more.
Fire Bean is a Mexican kitchen, which separates it somewhat from the competition in the locale. Located on Eastern Avenue, here you’ll be able to order all your favourites like burritos, tacos, and nachos, as well as wings, and dessert options like caramel or chocolate filled churros.

While Salamis may strike you as your typical Turkish kebab takeaway joint, this place actually has quite a selection of dishes to choose from that even includes a t-bone steak, lamb ribs, pizzas, and burgers. We’ve also been informed by them that they’ll soon be converting to a delivery place only come July. Note also that Mr Chicken next door has now closed down.

Wah Bey, which is the sub-continental way of saying WOW, has only very recently opened; so there’s not much information on this restaurant. What we do know is that not only are they HMC certified, but that they “truly want to deliver that authentic Pakistani food to everyone who walks through the doors”.

First off; the people behind Kebabish Original next door, are also the ones behind Yokoso Sushi. This is purely a takeaway and delivery service that boasts plenty of variety ranging from traditional Japanese tempura, maki, uramaki, nigiri, sashimi, temaki, as well as katsu curry, and even ramen soups.
