We have been working behind the scenes to bring you a seamless takeaway experience in accordance with government guidelines…

A gap in the Swansea food sector is said to have been filled with the introduction of The Indian Street Kitchen with a fast-paced delivery and collection service.

This newly relaunched business has been designed to ensure “a seamless takeaway experience in accordance with government guidelines”.

The business, which started off as a pop up at The Optimist Bar & Kitchen Uplands before upgrading to a food truck, launched on Broughton Avenue earlier this month.

Alongside a new menu, co-owners Jubair Ali Mannan and Mumin Islam Uddin have introduced both a delivery and a new collection service.

Jubair revealed on his Facebook page that The Indian Street Kitchen concept was first pitched to him by Mumin as an idea “that Swansea was missing”.

With the two of them being in the food and drinks trade for “nearly all our working lives, with experience of working both front of house as well as the kitchen”, Mumin would keep Jubair updated on the progress of the business during its early days.

Working 12-hour days to build a reputation

“He would send me pictures and videos, keeping me updated as to how each night went for him. Eventually the food truck came along, all the paper works were successful and that’s when he offered me to jump on board with him!

“Sharing both our ideas and creating a menu which was unique to Swansea! We worked 12 hours every single day to build up our reputation… yes we had our ups and downs along the way, but our passion for the business has got to where we are now,” Jubair added.

And their menu appears to have been created to facilitate deliveries too with plenty of Street Food Starters, a couple of Bombay Wraps and Roadside Biryanis, Urban desi Burgers, and Street Curries including Butter Chicken and their House Curry.

The interior has been designed with “an open plan kitchen and a large customer waiting area with social distancing measures in place to ensure you feel safe at all times”.

With an online ordering system in place via their website, The Indian Street Kitchen provides a 2-hour window for delivery owing to the fact that “we cook all our dishes to order”.

What’s more, loyalty points can also be earned with all orders made through the website only, with registered members earning 2% back in points to redeem on future orders.
