Halal Food Aplenty as Kerb Paddington goes Fortnightly
An amazing selection of Halal options are available at the ever-popular Kerb Paddington, which only this month began operating fortnightly.
Of the 12 traders serving lunch between 12pm-2pm on the first and third Wednesday of every month, the following nine, we can confirm, are either Halal or Halal-friendly:
Curry On
Curry On offer a variety of Halal curries that range from marinated Norfolk chicken thighs, your classic kormas, a veggie option, and most impressively: triple-cooked chips, skin-on, and tossed in garlic and coriander.
Hank’s
Hank’s dish up tapas that will transport you to Spain, with exciting fillings like pulled beef brisket with creole gravy; spicy blackened fish with slaw; buttermilk fried chicken tossed in Cajun butter with honey; and spicy crayfish and prawn croquetas.
Kolkati
Kolkati do Halal paratha flatbread rolls filled with either masala chicken or paneer, cooked in ghee (clarified butter) and smothered in their signature sauces: coconut and coriander raita or tamarind and ketchup.
Le Choux
Le Choux is a dessert place that has Halal options for choux pastries made by a “Paris-trained choux girl”. They do look delicious it does have to be said!
Nonna’s Gelato
Nonna’s Gelato is another dessert vendor that’s vegetarian-, gluten-, vegan-, and Halal-friendly. Here you’ll be spoiled by homemade, artisan gelato and sorbet served in either a tub or waffle cone.
Only Jerkin
Only Jerkin is a fascinating chicken vendor that does things like jerk chicken nuggets in a ginger beer batter, jerk fish fingers triple dipped in a ginger beer batter, Jamaican fried dumpling, and a selection of homemade dips.
Other Side Fried
Other Side Fried is another fried chicken vendor that does a buttermilk version, a buffalo bun, and a honey butter bun whose bacon pickles can be removed upon request.
The Grilling Greek
The Grilling Greek only has the Halloumi Souvlaki pita as Halal (NOTE: inquire into whether they cook this separately from the pork and chicken). But, they also do hand-cut triple-cooked chips!
Vicky’s Donuts
Vicky’s Donuts is the final dessert stall that’s Halal, and offers flavours like raspberry & lemon icing, vanilla bean icing, and more.
