Halal success at the first London Asian Business Awards
A trio of Halal food and drink businesses tasted success at last night’s inaugural London Asian Business Awards.
As importer and distributors Alnoor Foods Ltd won the Food Business of the Year award, Mr Basil Drinks was recognised as the Best Marketed Business 2017.
With some of the most accomplished business professionals gathered at the Hurlingham Club, it was meat specialists Tariq Halal who won the overall Business of the Year award.
Presented by the Halal catering company Greenleaf Events, award-winners were chosen by the public who voted for their favourite Asian businesses.
Following the award, Tariq Sheikh, CEO of Tariq Halal, said: “We are very honoured to accept the ‘Business of the Year’ award 2017 from The London Asian Business Awards.
“We’d like to dedicate this award to my father, the Late Sheikh Mohammad Altaf. He was the original founder of Tariq Halal Meats back in 1965 and without him, Tariq Halal Meats would not be where it is today. He sadly passed away on Friday 15th September 2017.
“We’d like to thank our customers, suppliers, the local community and our many friends for the overwhelming support. And to everyone involved with The London Asian Business Awards, the finalists & sponsors, thank you for pushing the Asian business industry beyond its limits.”
Tariq Halal is also in the running for this year’s Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards.
Both its Fulham and Croydon branch are up against Javed Quality Halal Meat in the ‘Halal’ category with the winner being chosen later in the year on 6 November at the County Hall in London.
Alnoor Foods Ltd, which imports and distributes “original Pakistani food products”, said on their Facebook page that they felt “honored and privilege18” in receiving the award.
“First of All Thanks to Allah SWT, our Family, our team and especially for our customers who chose our Products [sic],” it added.
Irfan Younis, CEO of Oceanic Consulting which held the event, said: “The London Asian Business Awards aim to celebrate the most dedicated and successful businesses and professionals in the London Asian community. We wish all the finalists the best of luck.”
