Malaysian Food & Cultural Festival in Bristol this weekend
The flavoursome cuisine of Southeast Asia will be celebrated in Bristol this weekend when the Malaysian Food & Cultural Festival kicks off.
Organised by the city university’s Malay Cultural Society (MCS), the fully Halal event will be taking place at St. Michael’s Parish Hall on Saturday at 9am.
Celebrity Malay cook and former MasterChef contestant Zaleha Olpin will also be trading on behalf of Malaysian Kitchen.
Having herself recently celebrated the successful publication of her first cookery book ‘My Rendang Isn’t Crispy’ she will be serving some classic Malay dishes.
These will include, of course, her famous Chicken Rendang along with Nasi Lemak among others.
With other food vendors including the return of Love of Taste, dishes to look out for are Char Kuey Teow, Yong Tau Fu, Mee Goreng Udang and Chicken Satays.
The festival will also be entertaining event-goers with traditional Malay games and performances while providing the opportunity for commerce.
Admission tickets will be £4 each (children under-12 are free), with discounts available for groups of 3, 4 or 5 people, and are available at the MCS Instagram page.
