Finally getting to try Manjaros African & Caribbean in Ilford
By Muhammad Bari (@cuisine.connoiseur)
For our first review, a restaurant I’ve been wanting to go to for quite long, and one that’s been recommended by many people, is Manjaros in Ilford. Did it disappoint?
The restaurant is usually really busy, but we came at a perfect time where we were seated within 10 minutes.
The customer service was amazing; our waiter was welcoming, had conversations, and was very friendly with us.
Firstly, I ordered the chicken sizzler, which was succulent, flavoursome and, in my opinion, better than most restaurants.
The chicken flatbread was also a nice, light starter. The Rasta Pasta was really tasty too; very saucy, with the flavours being delicious.
Chicken Parmesan wasn’t the best I had. Very mediocre and not so flavoursome.
However, the burger was delicious, the chicken was succulent, and the white sauce complimented the burger perfectly. I also tried a bit of my friend’s Chicken Boti and it was the best Chicken Boti I’ve ever had!
The biggest let-down were the chips, which were very bland. Also the amount of chips was just too overfilling.
Our waiter warned us before we ordered that Manjaros are known for their portion sizes, and it certainly did tick that box. The large quantity of food did not come at the cost of quality though.
