Foodology sees MasterChef winner, Dr Saliha Mahmood Ahmed, combine her love of food and her knowledge of Gastroenterology.

An unapologetic celebration of what I believe to be the most amazing organ of the body, that will enhance and enlighten the way you cook and eat – Dr Saliha Ahmed

MasterChef winner Saliha Mahmood Ahmed has combined her love for cooking and her knowledge of the human digestive system to release her latest recipe book.

The award-winning author, who won BBC’s cooking competition show back in 2017, will be publishing Foodology this coming May which explores the science behind the love of food.

Dr Saliha, who works as a gastroenterologist in the NHS, will be “taking the reader on a culinary and biological journey from the first bite all the way through our gut”.

‘A heavenly mix of whimsy, life and science, grounded in solid technique and blissful flavour.’ – William Sitwell (food critic)

With a foreword by renowned chef Sat Bains, the book contains over fifty new recipes designed to “put your new learning into practice, experimenting with new flavours, tastes and textures”.

Saliha said: “The book will take you on a joint culinary and scientific journey through the gut. It is an unapologetic celebration of what I believe to be the most amazing organ of the body, that will enhance and enlighten the way you cook and eat.”

While her inaugural best-selling cookbook Khazana went on to win the Observer Food Monthly Best New Cookbook 2019, Foodology has already received praise from some of the nation’s most beloved food writers.

Leading food critic William Sitwell has called it “a heavenly mix of whimsy, life and science, grounded in solid technique and blissful flavour” while Professor and author of The Diet Myth and Spoon Fed, Tim Spector, said it is “a spicy educational treat to be savoured: a delight”.

Foodology will seek to answer questions ranging from why certain flavours excite the taste buds to what happens during digesion including enhancing those all-important bacteria residing in the gut.

The book will be published on 13th May and is available now for pre-order on Amazon in both hardcover and Kindle formats (www.amazon.co.uk/dp/152931982X).
