National Fish & Chips Day 2020 London recommendations
Who doesn’t enjoy a freshly fried piece of fish, with its golden battered exterior, coupled with some chunky rustic chips, all hot and crispy?
With National Halal Burger Day having successfully concluded yesterday, today it’s the turn of National Fish & Chips Day.
This year, we’re mixing things up a little with recommendations across London which include places that might not be on everyone’s radar, but definitely should be.
We discovered the eccentric Bronek and his International Fish Cuisine venue, which acts as a fish-monger by morning and restaurant thereafter, earlier this year.
Located in west London’s Ealing area, not only did he blow us away with his fantastic menu (we rated him a hugely impressive 4.5/5), but he does some fantastic fish and chips too.
As we concluded in our review, “Bronek’s International Fish Cuisine is a hidden gem in Northfields”, and his worth travelling to for the experience alone (be sure to let him know Feed the Lion sent you).

If you’re in New Malden then Salt & Vinegar is the place to be today. Not only are they very reasonably priced, but they also offer a great range of fishes from cod to scampi.
What’s more, they also have a dessert menu that might be worth trying for those with a sweet tooth. We’ve been told that “the portions are huge with amazing value for money, and the service and ambience great”.

Seafresh in London made it as a finalist of the Independent Fish and Chip Restaurant of the Year Award.
We can confirm that they have three pans, one in which the chips are made and the other in which the fish. The fish is battered in a non-alcohol batter and both it and its cousin are fried in a vegetable-based oil.

This London-based restaurant was national winner of the Best Food service Operator Awar.
While many of their dishes are alcohol-free, they can also “offer a fish and chip option with a batter that does not contain beer”, and which can be fried, upon request, in the chips-only rape-seed oil.
